It has a power stroke capacity of 134 ft-lb of kinetic energy, which can help the sporting game Archery with more precision and accuracy. The incredible speed of 405 fps makes this tool one of the wonderful equipment in the list of crossbows. It’s fast, silent, accurate, balanced and just a comfortable crossbow to hunt with.Killer Instinct Boss 405 Crossbow arises up with adjustable buttstock into 6 different positions. Killer Instinct provides great value for money. All 3 shots came in at over 400 feet per second! 403, 401, and 404 feet per second to be precise. Shooting the Lethal 405 with the HYPR bolts over a chronograph delivered some nice results. I recommend not to shoot at the same spot over and over, you will definitely “Robin Hood” a lot of arrows! Getting 1-inch groups with this crossbow isn’t hard to achieve. After sighting in the scope, shooting targets dead-center at 50-yards was very easy. I decided to just use the 3 HYPR arrows that were included with this package. So, now there’s only a speed and accuracy test left. People with shoulder, back or neck problems should take a look at the “Dead Silent Crank” that Killer Instinct offers for this crossbow. For an experienced crossbow shooter this should be an easy task, but can be something to get used to as a beginner crossbow hunter. I just prefer to use an illuminated scope on crossbows.Ĭocking the Lethal 405 with the provided rope cocker should reduce the draw weight to about 100 pounds. The accuracy of the non-illuminated scope is exactly the same as the non-illuminated scope. After sighting it in at 20-yards, the other aiming points should also be sighted in. It’s pretty easy to sight in the scopes from Killer Instinct. They’re completely the same besides the illumination. For a crossbow with a price this low, it’s a very smooth trigger with very little creep.Īs mentioned in the scope section, I did swap out the 4×32 non-illuminated scope for a 4×32 illuminated scope. It has built-in safety features like an anti-dry fire and an automatic engaging safety switch. This crossbow comes with a standard trigger that has a 3.5-pound pull. They’re 20 inches in length and weigh a total of 370-grains with 100-grain field-tips. Included with this package are a total of 3 carbon HYPR arrows with field-tips. If the name didn’t already give it away, the Lethal 405 can shoot arrows at 405 feet per second with the included 20-inch HYPR Lite arrows. So, I do expect it to be a silent shooter. Performanceīefore actually putting the Killer Instinct Lethal 405 through a thorough test, I’d like to note that even though this is a very cheap crossbow, Killer Instinct does advertise that this crossbow comes with a “dead silent” kit. This will not only reduce the draw weight to make it almost effortless, but it’s also dead silent as Killer Instinct claims. Optionally, you can also separately buy the “ Dead Silent Crank”. This greatly reduces the vibrations and noise that the limbs produce when “relaxing” after firing the crossbow. The limb dampeners are rubber shock absorbers that are mounted in between the split limbs. The string dampeners are installed to catch the string and therefore reduce the noise that the string produces. Killer Instinct calls this kit their “Dead Silent kit.” Killer Instinct includes string and limb dampeners to reduce the noise and vibrations that are being produced when shooting with the Killer Instinct Lethal 405 crossbow. Besides that, the scopes are basically the same. One big difference is the illumination and another difference is a lack of lens covers on the scope that was originally mounted on the Lethal 405. Even after including the costs for a new scope, you’ll still have a very cheap crossbow and even more complete!Īs we still had the Furious Pro 9.5 laying around from a review we did earlier, I decided to install the scope from the Furious Pro 9.5 onto the Lethal 405. As the Lethal 405 is a very cheap crossbow, you can’t really complain about the scope, but it’s definitely worth it to upgrade it in the future.
